Welcome to the Friends of the Australian Botanic Gardens Shepparton.

We are a friendly, social group of people made up of keen gardeners, plant enthusiasts and lovers of the outdoors who voluntarily support and assist the development of the Botanic Gardens in Shepparton.

FABGS is an incorporated, not-for-profit organisation that depends on enthusiastic support by the community. As a Friends group we are independent of the Section 86 Committee and embrace our responsibility to communicate the values and goals of the ABGS.

‘Explore, Enjoy, Anytime’ is the theme of the Gardens and we invite you to be a part of this wonderful experience. Be a part of a group that is closely involved with the development of a major Goulburn Valley conservation landmark that will be a resource for the future and along the way, have fun and enjoy some physical exercise.

If you feel that you have something to offer, click the ‘Contact’ tab above. We would love to have you as a member.

Our Vision:

To develop a new generational botanical experience accessible to both the Shepparton community and visitors. This conversion of a landfill site in a damaged floodplain will showcase Australian native plants as well as incorporating public art.

Our Mission:

To assist the Australian Botanic Gardens Committee in developing the Gardens; encouraging community involvement and ownership of this unique setting and in providing a safe and peaceful place for learning, relaxation, exercise and a love of our natural environment.
